Hello there, how can I help you?
Oh, you’re lost?
You want to know the way to the place called ‘Truth’, you say?
Well, if I might be of service to you as a fellow traveller
there myself, I can tell you what I already DO know…
I know that whichever route you end up taking from right here, you’ll always
eventually end up at a particular cross in the road, even though it can be easy
to miss it if you’re not careful.
This crossroad is found in a very dark place (the local area is called the
‘Place of the Skull’ – spooky!), and if you’re anything like me, you will fear
for your very soul there as you seek the way onward out through the gloom; but
believe me, appearances are very deceiving! This place is actually also known
as the ‘Gateway to Freedom’, and everyone must pass there in order to continue
along their pilgrimage towards that elusive (but they say, heavenly) place
called ‘Truth’.
There are several routes you can take out from the ‘Gateway to Freedom’ to get
to ‘Truth’, but I would rather advise spending some time looking around (once
you’ve reached that cross in the road) for Someone to help you find the best
path out from there. Don’t worry, I’ve already been there myself! And I’ve
personally met Him already. I can reveal that He’s the type to eagerly await
your arrival, and can see you coming from far off. Take it from me; He’s a very
personable character, and He loves to acquaint Himself intimately with everyone
who visits the area. It’s well worth seeking Him out, for His map to ‘Truth’ is
second to none, and He’ll guide you through treacherous wastelands swiftly, IF
you hold fast to His instructions. I can vouch that obeying the way He guided
me thus far has brought me much success along my pilgrimage already!
What does He look like, you say? Well, all I can really say
about Him for now is that He LOOKS a bit like a beggar, or a simple shepherd;
someone you would expect to do the menial work around the place, you know…
watch out though, as He’s fiercely passionate about His work and will not be
mocked! But, don’t be afraid, for you’ll realise later (like me!) that He is
actually royalty in disguise (His Father, who happens to be the Landlord of the
entire establishment, is in fact very, very wealthy).
And He’s truly lovely, once you get to know Him! Top notch in every way; dare I
say faultless in His approachabilty?
When you find Him, He’ll even invite you into His personal abode, and take
pleasure in introducing you to the rest of His family. You will surely find
rest for your sore feet with Him there, however bedraggled you feel by the time
you arrive.
From experience, I can say that once you get there He will ask you to feast
yourself, all at His expense, on the very finest wine and the most deliciously
filling and nourishing bread. He will also provide you with a satisfying supply
of fresh water for the long arduous journey ahead of you… and trust me, things
may well seem rosy whilst you are there with Him, but you will need everything
He provides you at the cross in the road for the hard journey that lies before
you, once you are on your way towards ‘Truth’.
Where EXACTLY do you go from there, you ask?
Well, like I say, I expect He will give you the specific
directions once you’ve found Him, according to the way you walk (some of us are
limping, some of us are even crawling there); but as far as I have personally
been along the Way He mapped out for me, I can tell you that although there’s
seemingly safer, larger, more well marked out roads from there, all in plain
sight to you, I definitely advise the less obvious track that goes straight ahead
from the cross in the road; it seems very narrow and hidden by obstacles when
you first see it, and from experience it is certainly more dangerous that way;
but it is by far the most beautiful path, and you’ll appreciate it once you’re
on it, and I expect that you won’t feel the need to look back again once you’re
some way along it.
I can also say that you’ll be thankful for the memory of what my good friend at
the cross in the road did for each one of us there, in order to even be able to
show us the way; yes, I can vouch that it gives you such a sweet sense of peace
to trust His instructions, in spite of all the difficulties that lie in the way
on the journey, and that the things He says to you will resonate right to the
core your being, strengthening you as you continue to walk and meditate on His
words.
Believe me when I say that He will deeply impress you, so that you can never
forget Him! Surely, with every step, you will feel that His very Spirit will
continue to guide you, comfort you, nourish you, as though He was walking right
by your side, leading the way.
That’s about as much as I know, fellow pilgrim.
Godspeed your journey, friend!
