Repentance Needs

Come, all of you who are weary with being a part of this wicked world and who are heavy laden under the bondage of sin…  let us all return to the Lord in haste! For in His wrathful wisdom, He has torn we sinners to pieces; yet now, because of the blood of Christ, He will heal us. He had righteously injured us, for we deserved it; but now He is willing to bandage our wounds, if we let Him.

Let us gather together as the true church, before the real judgement begins, before any time to repent for things we know we should leave behind is blown away from us forever, like smoke in the wind. Take my advice and act now, friend, before the fierce, indignant FURY of the Lord falls upon all of those outside the will of God, and that prophesied terrible day of His pure anger actually begins, for real. You may well be comfortable with where you’re at, thinking there is still plenty of time to play silly games; but the Lord isn’t really being slow about His promised judgement, like some of you seem to think. No, He is being very patient for all our sakes. He does NOT want ANYONE to be destroyed, but desperately wants EVERYONE to turn away from all wickedness (as He sees it), and to really and truly genuinely repent! But take note; time is quickly running out.

I invite you all to look how far you may have fallen from His grace during your lives. Even many within the church have had their ‘sin radars’ dulled, and some of us have even totally returned to iniquity, having once known Him; let me tell you that some of you have been severely deceived! Well, the Lord requires all of us to daily turn back to Him and do those holy works we did when we first believed, and had that strong passion for His kingdom, with a spirit of self denial. Don’t believe the lies that the devil spins about sinful behaviour. You should all know that if one does not repent and change their mind to be in accordance with what scripture calls sin, He will come and ‘remove their lampstand from its place among the churches’. This is a very solemn warning. PLEASE! Let us all go back and act out the real gospel, and hold onto it firmly. I sincerely plead with you all, to simply turn away from wickedness, truly repent of all that is unclean, and confidently turn to Him again. But, if one does not want to wake up, He will come to them suddenly, as unexpected as a thief in the night, and there will be no more time for repentance left.

I can say with confidence that He is really grieved over the state of the wider church, because many of us have not fully given up on our old sins. Many of us have not fully repented of the tendency for impurity, for ALL sexual immorality (however small YOU might well think of it), and that inherent eagerness to fulfil all those lustful pleasures that seem to be so attractive to fallen human beings. Repent, all of you who have forgotten Him, or the One you have placed your mediocre faith in will in fact tear you apart on the coming judgement, and NO ONE will be able to help you. Each one of us must completely repent of our sins and then completely turn to God, showing this outwardly by being baptised in water as an adult, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of all our sins and to then begin a humble walk with Him as our guide for the rest of our lives. If you haven’t done so already, you will also receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is the guarantee of receiving eternal life and liberation in Christ on judgement day, rather than perishing with the rest of the unbelieving world. YES! Repent of your sins, believe the Good News and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!

However, if any one of you arrogantly refuses to repent of your wickedness, make no mistake that God will sharpen His sword and bend and string His bow in preparation for your deserved damnation. You should know that the sacrifice He desires of us is a broken spirit. He will never reject a broken and repentant heart. Those who heed my warning here and repent will be revived by His righteousness, it’s a promise you can rely on. If we as the church keep warning people of His coming wrath, and yet they still refuse to repent and keep on with their sinning, they WILL of course die in their sins as predicted, but we will have also saved ourselves from joining them simply because we obeyed Him when He asked us to step out for Him; such works as this prove the salvation we had already received in faith by Him. Be under no illusion that He requires us to tell people both in and out of the church to repent and turn away from their idols, and to stop all their detestable sins they do, either knowingly or unknowingly before the eyes of a holy God. If we love both Him and them, we will obey this call to convict the guilty and tell them of the hope we all have in Christ.

He will judge each of us according to our actions, so we simply MUST repent, and turn away fully from our sins. Don’t let them eternally destroy you! We must by the power of His Holy Spirit IMMEDIATELY turn away from our sins and turn to God, so that our sins may be wiped away by His sacrifice at Calvary, as He nails them to the cross there. Did you know that even Jesus denounced those towns where He had done so many of His miracles, all because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God? Yes, He threatened them with the wrath that was in store for them, in the hopes that they would repent in sackcloth and ashes. John baptised with water those who wanted to repent of their sins and turn to God, but Jesus is so much greater than anyone that not even he, the one Jesus called the greatest man who had ever lived, was not worthy even to be His servant or carry His sandals. John’s baptism was of water, symbolising repentance, yet Jesus is the One who baptises us with the Holy Spirit, and with fire. Both baptisms help us in our war against sin, but especially that of the Spirit. Jesus told us that even the people of wicked Nineveh will stand up on judgement day against the generation He was a part of and condemn it, for they actually repented of their sins when they heard the fire and brimstone preaching of Jonah. But in Jesus’s day, ‘Someone’ much greater than Jonah was there with them preaching, but yet they still refused to repent. Humour me for a second; ponder on what will then become of our pleasure seeking, arrogantly immoral generation that seeks only signs and wonders in order to believe? We should perhaps collectively repent of our wickedness like Nineveh and pray to the Lord, for perhaps He will forgive our nation’s evil if we stand up and are continually truly honest with Him about it all.

So then, we must prove by the way we live our lives that we have repented of our sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we visit a church every Sunday and drink wine and eat bread there’, for that means nothing if our heart is not right with the Lord, having not turned away from iniquity for the rest of the time. In fact, He has not come to call those who think that they are righteous, but to those who KNOW they are sinners and that they need to repent. That’s good news, isn’t it? For we will perish unless we repent of our sins and turn to God, you can be certain of it.  Think of this though, that there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who actually really repents and returns to God, than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! There is pure joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents!

If any of you see another believer sinning, take it upon your shoulders to rebuke that person, in love; then if there is real repentance, quickly forgive and encourage them. There really is forgiveness of sins for all who truly repent in a godly way. By the way, I’m glad to give out this message, not because I want to hurt or offend anyone, but because perhaps the pain of the realisation of raw truth might cause someone reading this to repent and change their ways. I’m looking for the kind of sorrow over sin in that person that God wants His people to have, for that kind of experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks genuine repentance, WILL result in spiritual death. And we should all shake in our boots that the scriptures tell us that it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened, those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, those who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come – and who then fully turn away from God. Yes, it is impossible to bring such people back to repentance, for by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing Him to the cross once again and holding Him up to public shame. His death will be on their hands, His blood condemning them rather than being the source of their salvation. No, we must run the race to the end, and continue to fight the good fight, for He is truly worth giving up everything for, even our very lives.

When the dry ground soaks up the falling rain and then  eventually bears a good crop for the farmer, it comes with God’s blessing. But, if a field bears thorns and thistles, it is useless to anyone. Surely the farmer will soon condemn that field, and burn it to the ground. In the same way, we must make sure that no one among us is immoral or godless like Esau was, that doomed man who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a paltry single meal of lentils. Remember that after it had happened and he had realised his mistake, when he then wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears for another chance. Meditate on these things, friends, for all life is held in the balance by God, and we are accountable for everything we say and do whilst we journey our time on earth.

Take courage, however! For the high and lofty One who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this to us: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”
