Everything physical has a spiritual side to it.

Yes, we as earthly creatures live and operate in this material world, and it looks, sounds and feels totally ‘real’ to us… but as a matter of fact, the spirit realm is THE true reality, and what we live as human beings on earth is just a mirage in comparison to it. Nevertheless, what happens in the physical realm has very important spiritual significances for us, especially to do with the immaterial parts of our own beings, the soul and spirit, and how we relate to other spirit beings.

The spirit realm is very different to this realm we currently inhabit. Time and space are merely ‘lower’ dimensions when compared to it, and we should therefore seek not to apply our own lowly and finite understanding to it. Jesus said He couldn’t speak of heavenly things to those who didn’t even understand earthly things (John 3:12).

What we DO know is that the spirit realm is full of eternal beings, who are far more powerful, wise and intelligent than even the strongest and wisest man could ever hope to be. Any spiritual power that comes to a human being (whether you are Samuel, or the witch of Endor) comes directly from either a holy or an unholy source, that is ‘received’ into the physical realm through the use of spiritual practices such as prayer, fasting and other self denying practices; even blood sacrifices play a part.
You might think that you have personally nothing to do with any of this; it may even frighten you to think of it being the truth. But the fact is, you are inextricably involved in this war, and that it’s much bigger than individual people like us… in fact, the whole universe (and beyond) cannot get away from being involved in it. The whole of creation was subject to the curse of Adam; even the stones were praising Jesus as He entered Jerusalem on that fateful week.

This might push you away from having anything to do with spiritual matters at all, in which case (whether you believe it or not) I say to you here and now that the devil is by default your father, for you have chosen to live the lie he spins, and reject the life of denial and obedience that Christ is calling you to. Hopefully though, this realisation of the spiritual realm and the battle therein will compel you to WANT to get involved, to get fighting on the side of righteousness and justice, and desiring to uphold the truth. 

When the LORD is your Father, He shows you how to behave, what to deny, what to embrace, how to speak and act, even when we can’t understand it or it seems weird to do so. All people are at all times hearing and being guided from the spirit realm; but, according to your stance with the Lord, as Christians we know that it comes from two different sources. The great challenge to us all is that friendship with the world is enmity against God, yet we are also to love our neighbour as we love ourselves. 

Let me warn you that if your inspiration is not coming from a holy source, there is no feasible way to safely traverse this treacherous swamp intact, and you WILL perish. 

Instead, getting involved in the spirit war on a moment to moment basis, and double checking every thought and action you have to the standard of holiness set by Jesus, is the only way one can move and progress forward, with that hope of eternal life blazing in our heart like a flaming torch, guiding us home.

Make no mistake! Physical actions have a spiritual source, and without getting totally involved in the spiritual war and fighting on the side of pure holiness (by casting away and actively battling against sin), you will instead stand to take the well marked, well known way to Hades, whether you know it now or not.

Therefore, choose life this day. Make your decision now to get completely involved in the war. Pray, fast, sacrifice.

It may cost us our lives in the end, but we will gain it unto eternal life… Jesus promised us.
